Do I get the exact cabochon photographed? Can I reorder the exact same cabochon again? Do you have more cabochons available but not listed on the website?

Yes, you get the exact cabochons that are photographed. No you cannot reorder the same stone, our stones are truly one-of-a-kind. Once it is gone it is gone! What is on the website is what is currently available so if you like something grab it. Please email us with any special requests nsacabochons@gmail.com.

Do you cut your own stones and can you take custom orders? Do you offer discounts?

We have a small lapidary shop at home to do quick fixes. The bulk of the cabochons we offer are cut by our partner lapidary family in Mexico. At the moment, we do not have the capacity to take custom orders. We do our best to keep our prices competitive, at the moment we do not offer discounts. Join our emailing list to be notified of any rare sales.

What is a cabochon, and how are they used? What are good cabochons for beginners?

A cabochon is a gemstone has been shaped and polished, as opposed to faceted. The term comes from the French word caboche, which means "head". Cabochons are used primarily in jewelry making. Jewelers use cabochons to create jewelry that features different types of gemstones, natural and man made.

For beginners, I recommend a cabochon that has rounded edges. Ideal shapes are round and oval. I recommend something large sized and a durable material like obsidian, fossil, or crystal because it will withstand the force of bezel setting better. I do not recommend practicing your bezel setting skills on a soft material like amber or opals, it is more prone to being scratched or broken.

Can I change my shipping address after I placed my order?

Please email nsacabochons@gmail.com with subject line: SHIPPING ADDRESS CHANGE FOR (INSERT NAME). Please do as soon as you have realized the mistake. We will do our best to update our system and ship to the corrected address.
